Lake Vermilion Fishing Report
Well the 2018 walleye fishing opener has finally arrived!
What a beautiful weekend we had too! From all of the reports that I have received and by my own experience the opener was a huge success for most fishermen.
Walleyes were caught in depths ranging from 3′ to 32′ using almost any presentation you wanted to use. Slip bobbers, Lindy rigs, jigs, trolling Raps all worked! Rainbow chubs, fathead chubs, pike suckers, and leeches all worked on the live bait rigs.
Lots of 13″ to 16″ eating sized fish were caught and quite a few slot fish were also caught and released. The largest walleye that I heard that was caught was a monster 33-7/8-inch fish that was kept as a trophy mount.
This summer should be a banner year for walleyes on Vermilion!
