Lake Vermilion Fishing Report – East End
The bass spawn is in full swing with about half of the females dropping their eggs already. This week should be the peak of bass fishing rocky shore lines and they can be caught on just about anything! I had a few days this week where 10 bass per hour was common.
The walleye bite seems to be best a little deeper with many fish coming between 25′ to 30′ of water including a few fish over the slot. Lindy rigs with minnows still seems to be best, but leeches are catching fish as well and the walleye are very aggressive when they are taking the leech.
The muskie bite isn’t as good as normal with a later spawn slowing the move to open water where they will be chasing tulipees and more easily targeted. The shallow fish do not seem to have much interest in any presentation at this point but are fun to see.
