Lake Vermilion Fishing Report – West End

The mayfly hatch plus a fast rise in temperatures has made the catch extremely tough over the past week and a half. Don’t stay on fish that aren’t cooperating – move on to another spot.

I’ve had good luck working the transitions from rock to gravel. Some fish are still in shallow water. Plastics and slip rigs have worked for walleyes. Trolling for Northerns and muskies has brought a lot of action. My walleye numbers are starting to increase again, and in another week we should be back into normal summer conditions. Look for fish on mid-lake reefs and humps. Lindy rig with half a crawler or leeches have been working best for me right now.

Have fun and be safe out on the water!
