Lake Vermilion East End Fishing Report

Walleye fishing has been good to great over the past week which has been easily noticed by the number of boats on the lake.  It is a great time to get on the lake and catch some walleyes in easy to find places as fish are relating to almost all mid lake structure.  Always try the wind blown side of the structure first as the small perch, which the walleyes are feeding on, move with the wind.  The fish are still biting well on worms but can also be caught on jigging raps when they do not seem to want live bait.  18′ to 24′ seems to be the best depth.

Muskie fishing is also very good in the shallow rocks.  These fish can be seen slowly roaming the shallows in mid day and become more active and start to chase more just before and after dark.

The smallmouth bass bite has been descent lately although they need to be fished a little bit deeper.  Try drop shotting in 8′-12′ around the rock piles for the most consistent action.
