Lake Vermilion Fishing Report

Walleye fishing is continuing to improve everyday although the fish are definitely on the move as they are starting to transition into their fall locations. The fish aren’t found that often in the same spot two days in a row, but when you find them, they are hungry. Jigging raps and snap jigging minnows on lead head jig has been effective or the past week. I have noticed some large schools of walleyes in depths of up to 40 feet.  The forage size the walleyes are feeding on is getting bigger, so now is the time to use bigger baits to produce more fish.

Crappie fishing has been pretty consistent in the deeper weeds, although the bigger fish are starting to move out of the weeds and into the deep holes.
Muskie fishing has been good with the afternoons producing more fish than the mornings as the water warms up and they become more active.
The early Canada goose season opened up over the weekend with great success in the fields around Cook and Angora.
