AIS Prevention Frequent Topic at Antique Boat Show

The Vermilion Lake Association’s information booth at the busy Antique and Classic Boat Show at the Landing Restaurant over Labor Day weekend hosted a steady flow of visitors. The most frequent question … “Tell me about invasive species at Lake Vermilion.”

During the AIS discussions, one thing was striking: Those who brought up the topic really cared. Many were visiting Lake Vermilion with their classic boats from a “home lake” further south. They knew firsthand the problems caused by Eurasian watermilfoil or zebra mussels. Their stewardship of Minnesota’s lakes and rivers was obvious, and their boats were absolutely AIS-free.
