AIS Watercraft Inspectors Needed at Lake Vermilion and Burntside Lake
The North St. Louis Soil and Water Conservation District are currently hiring persons 18 years and older to become aquatic invasive species (AIS) watercraft inspectors at Lake Vermilion and Burntside Lake public boat accesses for the 2017 boating season. Applicants selected will be scheduled for training on either April 28 or May 9 in the Lake Vermilion area. An advanced training class is planned for May 31 in Ely. Inspectors will be greeting boaters, checking boats entering and exiting the lake for AIS, and teaching boaters how to self-inspect their watercraft. Inspectors will use a tablet (provided) to aid in the inspection process and to record inspection data.
Work assignments will begin in early May through September and will include working weekends, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day. Starting inspectors will earn $12.50 per hour and are expected to work between 20-40 hours per week. The days and hours worked is somewhat flexible. Applicants can express a preference for assignment locations.
