VLA Members Gather to Celebrate 50 Years of Service

The Vermilion Lake Association celebrated its 50th anniversary with a picnic last Saturday. Members reminisced about the first 50 years protecting and improving Lake Vermilion and discussed the challenges of the next fifty. Camp Vermilion on Wakemup Bay provided a fabulous setting with indoor and outdoor seating to enjoy a free fried chicken banquet served throughout the afternoon.

Despite the hot weather, the turnout was strong, making this event one of the best-attended ever.

Please check out the Vermilion Lake Association’s website for more information about the association’s annual loon count, night navigation lights, shore lunch sites, AIS prevention program, shoreland restoration initiatives, and fishery improvement work.
