Cleanup at Black Bay hiking trail
On August 11, 2022, in a col- laborative effort by Minnesota DNR Forestry Service and the
Vermilion Lake Association, the Black Bay Shore Lunch site hiking trail got a much needed clearing. Challenges of weather made it necessary to resched- ule the event, but luckily the industri- ous workers were able to accomplish the task in one morning of hard work.
Pat Michaelson, VLA President, said “The VLA is so fortunate to have a
solid volunteer group that is engaged in moving our various programs forward. The Shore Lunch Sites, one of the gems on the lake, are one of the most utilized and visible resources we promote.” Thanks go out to Minnesota DNR Forestry Staff Penny Backman and Joe Worm, and Vermilion Lake Association volunteers Ted Fossum, Rick Teeter, Nancy Swanson, Eric Han- son, and Jim Gribble. Special thanks
to Eric Hanson of Pehrson Lodge for helping ferry volunteers to the site.
For more information about the trail, see a previous article in our Spring 2020 newsletter can be found at our website.
