Vermilion Lake Associ- ation (VLA) members gathered for their annual meeting on Saturday, August 6 at Camp Vermilion, located on the west end of Lake Vermilion. More than 100 members and guests attended.
A brief business meeting was held after a social hour and deli- cious buffet style meal of baked chicken, green beans, salad, and Camp Vermilion’s wood-fired brownies. Members re-elect-
ed board members Lori Ptak, Dwight Warkentin, and Craig Beveroth. Jeff Lovgren was rec- ognized by Nancy Watkins on behalf of the whole VLA board for his years of ser-
vice on the board and
heading the Aquatic
Invasive Species pro-
gram. By-law changes
regarding member-
ship categories and
dues were approved.

website.
Following the busi-
ness meeting, a
special presentation
was given by Keith
Reeves, Area Fisheries/Division of Fish and Wildlife for the DNR. His topic was “Let’s Focus on Birds for A While”. Keith spoke about birds in the Lake Vermil- ion area, where to go birding (Hunter Walking Trails mowed by the DNR), what to use to take photos (super zoom cameras), and apps to identify birds (Mer- lin).
